Class Observation and/or Videotaping

Parents will not be allowed to sit in the classroom, take pictures or video a class unless special arrangements have been made. Remember, it may not distract your child for you to be in class, but it is very distracting to other children who do not know you. We ask that you also please keep all lobby conversations to a minimum.

Class Participation

Students should arrive with all necessary hair accessories and shoes in a small dance bag. Students belongings should be labeled with their name to aide in preventing loss or theft. The staff will assume no responsibility for lost, stolen or misplaced items. A box for lost and found items has been established for such purpose.

Access to Teachers and Director

Parent’s questions concerns and comments are very important to us, however in between classes is not the time for such discussions. Please feel free to contact Sam via email or by phone with you questions. It is very important to give all of our students there full class time and this becomes difficult when everyone has a question for the teacher. We want to provide you with the best dance experience possible, so please let us know what we can do to make it that way for you and your family.

Studio Flooring

Dancers should not wear shoes that have been worn outdoors (street shoes or everyday shoes) to dance in the studio. Appropriate type dance shoes or slippers should be worn for classes.  Dance studio flooring is very expensive and the dirt, salt and sand scratch and deteriorate the flooring, as well as make it impossible to clean. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance regarding this policy.

Class Withdrawals

The Director should be notified immediately in writing (or e-mail) if a child is being withdrawn from a class or classes. Until such time, the space will be held for the student and associated charges billed accordingly. A payment schedule may be arranged for families with financial hardship. Once a student has quit twice in the middle of a semester for reasons other than illness or hardship, the parents should not consider returning to the studio.

Cleanliness

Proper hygiene is essential in all aspects of life. It is very hard to approach a child, or parent, about lack of cleanliness, or foul body order. However, in a dance studio where activities induce sweat and children are moving throughout the space, odors can become a terrible distraction and an embarrassment for the child should a classmate be insensitive and say something aloud. To avoid these problems, please be sure all dancewear is laundered after each wearing, hair should be clean, feet should be washed, deodorant should be a consideration for all students age 7 and up for dance class. No perfume should be used prior to class as it may aggravate allergies of other students.

Food and/or Drink

There is no gum, food, or open top beverages of any kind permitted in the dance studios. However, students may bring drinks in reseal able containers.

Inclement Weather

In the event of bad weather conditions, please listen to WZID 95.7 for cancellations. Students will not be contacted individually. Classes canceled due to inclement weather will need to be made up. Credit will not be issued for classes canceled due to inclement weather. Please refer to the make-up schedule for the appropriate class time.
